The annual East Grinstead in Bloom competition will be held again next summer. There will be our original Front Garden competition and also gardeners will be able to register their back gardens too! “Many people have told me how much they appreciate East Grinstead in Bloom because it gives them that little bit of inspiration to make their gardens even more beautiful.” The competition did not happen for the last few years because of COVID, which was disappointing. But the good news is that we will be back – bigger and better than ever.
“Besides holding the front garden competition as usual,”
Julie Mockford, Chairman, explained
“we will also be looking at how we can make our gardens more sustainable and bring some of the nature we have lost, back to our town.”
Over the coming months we will be offering ideas and suggestions of what we can do make our gardens home to as many species as possible. For instance, growing more wildflowers will attract more insects, which in turn will hopefully attract a wider range of birds.
Obviously to take on this type of initiative will need volunteers, so we would love to hear from you if you would like to join us on the committee – nothing too onerous – we meet once a month – usually for an hour. Whether you can help with clerical matters, coming up with ideas or just want to learn about gardening – we really look forward to welcoming you into our fold.
